Maoist-affected Districts Reduced from 126 to 38 – Central Government

The central government has highlighted that connectivity has been given top priority in the measures it has undertaken. The government revealed that the impact of Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in the country has significantly reduced. Over the past six years, the number of Maoist-affected districts has decreased from 126 to 38, as stated by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Lok Sabha. Since the implementation of the "National Policy & Action Plan – 2015," conditions in LWE-affected areas have improved.

The government emphasized that connectivity was given high importance in its actions. Over 4,000 kilometers of roads have been built, and more than 1,300 telecom towers have been established, strengthening government welfare schemes and security systems in these regions.

The Ministry also mentioned that through increased security deployments, intelligence coordination, and development projects, the issue of Left Wing Extremism has been significantly reduced. There has been a noticeable decline in Maoist activities over the last five years. The central government also revealed that Rs. 1,925.83 crores were released to LWE-affected states in the last five years for security and development activities. Additionally, anti-extremism operations were also strengthened.

Recent statistics indicate that due to the financial, social, and security measures taken by the government, Maoist influence has diminished. The government's objective is to continue development projects in these areas, gradually eliminating the dark influence of Maoism.

Along with the government’s measures, the focus on development projects has significantly increased. Welfare schemes in these areas have been strengthened, improving the living standards of the people. Public support in these regions has also grown as people show more preference for development initiatives.

The success of these efforts can be attributed to improved guidance from security forces, better intelligence coordination in rural areas, and advancements in technology. These changes have been critical in initiating active development activities in affected regions.

The government's enhanced security measures and anti-extremism operations have led to a marked reduction in Maoist activities, as evidenced by the results. Officially allocated funds are being used to further strengthen the security system and promote technological advancements.

The allocation of government funds has helped support welfare and development programs in LWE-affected states, leading to a further reduction in Maoist influence. The government plans to continue these efforts and expand these strategies to other parts of the country in the future.
